About the role
The Senior Financial Analyst/Investigator supports the US Attorney's Office by conducting complex financial, forensic, statistical, identity-based, and program-integrity analyses for federal criminal investigations and prosecutions.
What you'll do
- Conduct financial, forensic, statistical, identity-based, and program-integrity analyses
- Analyze benefit claims, funding, eligibility records, tax records, grants, procurement records, and other evidence
- Use pattern recognition, anomaly detection, clustering, and comparative analysis to identify fraud
- Calculate actual and intended losses for charging, restitution, forfeiture, and sentencing
- Perform asset tracing and financial-flow analysis
- Analyze large and complex financial, benefits, healthcare, tax, identity, and transaction datasets
- Conduct forensic accounting and reconcile incomplete, altered, falsified, or conflicting records
- Prepare investigative reports, spreadsheets, charts, timelines, visualizations, and evidentiary summaries
- Support interviews, investigative meetings, hearings, trial preparation, discovery, and exhibit creation
- Assist with affidavits, subpoenas, declarations, complaints, warrants, indictments, and trial presentations
- Organize and manage documentary and electronic evidence under federal discovery and security requirements
- Collaborate with Assistant US Attorneys, federal agents, agency personnel, and support staff
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics, statistics, data analytics, or a related field
- At least three years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, forensic accounting, financial investigations, statistical analysis, or related analytical work
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to complete a seven- or ten-year minimum background investigation
- Ability to complete a post-offer drug screening
- Certified Public Accountant certification preferred
- Certified Fraud Examiner certification preferred
