Property Claims Adjuster Specialist - Desk

About the role

Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims in compliance with policy provisions and state regulations. This desk-based role is available in Pacific, Mountain, and Central time zones, with hybrid attendance required for employees living within 60 miles of a USAA office.

What you'll do

• Manage a caseload of complex property damage claims
• Investigate damages and analyze insurance coverage
• Identify liability, discrepancies, subrogation potential, and investigation referrals
• Prepare estimates using estimating and virtual inspection technology
• Negotiate settlements within assigned authority
• Maintain accurate and current claim documentation
• Coordinate with vendors, internal partners, and regulators
• Support catastrophe response operations and travel when assigned
• Ensure compliance with risk and regulatory requirements

What you'll bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least two years of relevant property claims adjusting experience involving dwelling and structural damage estimates
• Advanced knowledge of Xactimate or similar estimating platforms
• Knowledge of residential construction, property contracts, case law, and state regulations
• Strong negotiation, investigation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel 50 to 75 percent of the year and work catastrophe duty when needed
• Ability to obtain and maintain an insurance adjuster license within 90 days and three attempts
• US work authorization without current or future sponsorship
