Engineering Detailer / Draftsperson

About the role

Mid-level engineering position responsible for detailing and drafting structural steel components for large, time-sensitive construction projects. The role includes estimating, new product development, customer service, design for manufacturability, technical support, and collaboration with engineering, sales, marketing, accounting, and manufacturing teams. Domestic and international travel is expected to be no more than approximately 10% per year.

What you'll do

• Detail and draft structural steel beams, columns, connections, floor plates, cross bracing, and anchor bolts
• Create fabrication drawings for the factory and final construction drawings for customers
• Take direction from internal and external project managers and engineers
• Support estimating and new product development
• Provide design for manufacturability and customer service
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, marketing, accounting, and manufacturing teams
• Provide technical support in-house and in the field
• Travel to domestic and international customer locations as needed

What you'll bring

• Post-secondary degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or Mechanical Design
• Three to five years of relevant experience
• Experience with structural steel fabrication and construction
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Inventor Suite, Tekla, Advanced Steel, RISA, or Revit preferred
• At least five years of experience preferred
• Ability to travel up to approximately 10% per year
