Remote Senior Software Engineer, Windows/Desktop Applications

About the role

Lead the architecture and development of Speechify's native Windows desktop applications, with an emphasis on accessibility, performance, reliability, and polished user experiences. Speechify is a 100% distributed company with no office.

What you'll do

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications
• Define best practices for architecture, performance, memory usage, compatibility, and maintainability
• Integrate and validate Windows accessibility support
• Collaborate with product, design, UX research, QA, and other stakeholders
• Own features from conception through release and maintenance
• Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems
• Mentor engineers and guide technical design decisions

What you'll bring

• At least 3 years of Windows desktop application development experience
• Experience with Windows App SDK, WinUI or similar frameworks, C#, and XAML
• Understanding of Windows application architecture and managed/native code interoperability
• Track record of shipping production-quality desktop applications
• Experience with Windows accessibility APIs such as Microsoft UI Automation
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
• Experience leading technical design and conducting code reviews
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
