Senior Data Scientist - AI/ML Specialist

About the role

CACI is seeking a Senior Data Scientist in Virginia to support the Department of Homeland Security's Cyber Crimes Center in developing advanced AI and machine learning solutions for law enforcement investigations. You will design production systems that help investigators analyze complex data, identify criminal networks, and combat cybercrime while meeting federal security and governance requirements. Working with software engineers, infrastructure architects, and cybersecurity specialists, you will deliver explainable, auditable AI capabilities with human oversight. This full-time opportunity emphasizes responsible AI, scalable data engineering, and reliable deployment within on-premise environments. U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance are required. Continental U.S. travel may reach 10%. The position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.

What you'll do

• Design and deploy compliant AI/ML systems for entity resolution, network analysis, and anomaly detection.
• Build scalable data pipelines and databases using Airflow, Spark, and on-premise infrastructure.
• Implement explainable AI, human oversight, and monitoring for bias, performance, and security.
• Manage model versioning, CI/CD workflows, and API integrations with investigative systems.
• Document architecture, data provenance, and model decisions to support audits and security authorization.
• Collaborate across technical teams and communicate findings to investigative stakeholders.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of AI/ML experience delivering and maintaining production systems at scale.
• Advanced Python skills with Pandas, NumPy, Spark, and TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with on-premise infrastructure, MLOps, workflow orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of explainable AI methods such as SHAP or LIME and federal AI governance standards.
• U.S. citizenship, eligibility to obtain and maintain DHS Public Trust clearance, and availability for up to 10% domestic travel.
