Software Engineer — Data Platform (Remote)

About the role

Raytheon is seeking a Software Engineer II to join its Receiver/Exciter & Processing Architecture department in Marlborough, Massachusetts. This full-time, first-shift position is fully onsite and supports software development for advanced radar systems. You will maintain and modernize legacy radar software, troubleshoot deployed systems, and develop tools that support next-generation digital receiver/exciter testing. The role combines modern C++ development with Linux, MATLAB, Python, and automated build and test workflows. Working closely with hardware and firmware engineers, you will help resolve integration challenges and deliver reliable capabilities for aerospace and defense applications. Candidates must be able to obtain an Interim Secret U.S. government security clearance before starting and maintain the required clearance. U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility. Relocation assistance may be available for eligible candidates.

What you'll do

• Develop and optimize C/C++ software for radar processing and receiver/exciter systems.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and patch legacy software supporting deployed radar systems.
• Build Linux-based MATLAB and Python tools for modeling, testing, and automation.
• Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers to resolve integration issues.
• Support automated build pipelines, software testing, and technical documentation.

What you'll bring

• Experience with modern C++14, C++17, or C++20, object-oriented design, and performance optimization.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting software in Linux environments.
• Working knowledge of MATLAB and Python for analysis, modeling, or test automation.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, Docker, or automated build pipelines.
• Ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance before starting and maintain the required clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Radar, RF, SDR, digital signal processing, or embedded systems experience preferred.
