Bilingual GED Instructor/College Success Coach

About the role

A full-time, nine-month, grant-funded position providing Spanish-language GED instruction, academic advising, and student success services for adult learners in Adult Basic Skills and the High School Equivalency Program. The role supports students from enrollment through GED completion and transition into college, workforce training, or employment. Funding runs through June 30, 2027, with no guarantee of employment after that date.

What you'll do

• Teach 12 hours per week of in-person Spanish GED instruction
• Teach mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts
• Develop and maintain standards-based curriculum
• Use instructional technology to enhance learning
• Assess student progress and maintain instructional records
• Create an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment
• Provide individualized academic advising and success coaching
• Develop educational and career plans with students
• Teach the Bridge to College course
• Assist with admissions, financial aid, Oregon Promise, registration, placement, and college navigation
• Support transitions into college, workforce training, or employment
• Maintain case notes, student records, and grant documentation
• Monitor attendance, persistence, and completion
• Coordinate referrals and interventions
• Comply with FERPA and grant requirements
• Collaborate with program staff and contribute to curriculum improvement

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in education, adult education, human services, counseling, Spanish, or a related field
• Two years of teaching experience with adult learners, secondary students, or community college students
• One year of advising, mentoring, coaching, or case management experience
• Fluency in English and Spanish
• Knowledge of GED content and adult learning principles
• Ability to teach all four GED subject areas in Spanish
• Strong advising, coaching, and communication skills
• Ability to use instructional technology
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality
• Willingness to travel or teach at various hours and campus locations
• Spanish GED teaching experience preferred
• Experience with Bridge to College, College Success, HEP, CAMP, TRIO, or Adult Basic Skills preferred
• Experience serving migrant and seasonal farmworker communities preferred
• Experience with Canvas, CASAS, or student information systems preferred
