About the role

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer to support its precision electro-optics business onsite in Carlsbad, California. This role develops digital, analog, power, and mixed-signal electronics for mission-critical defense technology applications. You will collaborate with optical, mechanical, software, firmware, and electrical engineering teams to translate system requirements into circuit designs, validate performance, and support production release. The position combines hands-on board development and bench integration with technical reviews, customer presentations, and responsibility for project cost and schedule milestones. Candidates should bring substantial electronics design experience and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance. The role offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. Annual base compensation ranges from $106,500 to $197,500, with final pay based on experience and other applicable factors.

What you'll do

• Design digital, analog, power, and mixed-signal circuits using schematic capture and simulation tools.
• Translate system requirements into block diagrams, circuit architectures, and detailed design documentation.
• Develop test plans and procedures, validate circuit performance, and lead bench-level integration.
• Design and test microcontroller-based boards, low-voltage current drivers, and stepper motor control circuits.
• Prepare design reviews, performance analyses, trade studies, and customer presentations.
• Support proposals, production release, and project cost and schedule milestones.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree with 6 years of relevant experience, graduate degree with 4 years, or 10 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Experience with electronic design and simulation tools such as Altium, Xpedition, OrCAD, PADS, or Spice.
• Experience developing mixed-signal boards, microcontroller circuits, and embedded C programming and debugging.
• Ability to translate requirements into designs and support development through integration and testing.
• Strong technical communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph preferred.
