Operations Manager

About the role

Transdev is seeking a full-time Operations Manager in Lewes, Delaware, to oversee daily transit operations serving Sussex County. Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead operators, supervisors, and dispatch personnel while supporting safe, reliable service and responsible budget management. This onsite role combines route supervision, workforce scheduling, employee coaching, and communication with internal teams and external customers. You will partner with maintenance, safety, and training departments to address service needs, improve performance, and support incident investigations. You will also manage the operation when the General Manager is absent and may operate a vehicle in revenue service when necessary. Flexible scheduling and work in outdoor operating environments are required. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified applicants and employees.

What you'll do

• Supervise operators, supervisors, and dispatch personnel to maintain reliable daily service.
• Manage operator schedules, route coverage, and service delivery within budget.
• Coordinate with maintenance, safety, and training teams to meet operational goals.
• Analyze performance data, improve processes, and resolve employee concerns and grievances.
• Make authorized hiring decisions, evaluate staff performance, and coach employees.
• Support incident investigations and oversee operations in the General Manager's absence.

What you'll bring

• High school diploma or GED and at least three years of supervisory experience; transit experience preferred.
• Class B or higher CDL with passenger and air brake qualifications, or ability to obtain them.
• Thorough knowledge of transit regulations and operations, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database programs.
• Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and labor relations skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and perform outdoor duties, prolonged sitting, walking, and handling up to 50 pounds, with reasonable accommodation as needed.
• U.S. work authorization without current or future sponsorship; successful drug screening and background check, plus applicable DOT testing and physical.

Benefits

• Annual salary of $64,000 to $75,000.
