WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP INSPECTOR - HVAC-MECHANICAL / PLAN REVIEWER Department Building Pay Grade / Union 6.0 / TPOA Salary $63,960.00 - $86,278.40 POSITION SUMMARY Conducts on-site inspections throughout the Township to ensure compliance with state and local HVAC/mechanical codes for new construction, additions and alterations. Reviews plans and assists contractors and the public with code-related information. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Answer questions about HVAC/mechanical codes and inspection procedures and enter inspection data. Advise contractors, residents and management on Township requirements, applications and corrections. Review permit applications, permit plans and building plans. Inspect and re-inspect sites for compliance with codes, approved plans and specifications. Investigate complaints and coordinate resolution of construction and compliance issues. Issue violation notices and prepare inspection reports. QUALIFICATIONS High school graduation plus coursework in building construction and general computer skills. Four years of experience as an active licensed HVAC/mechanical contractor in the trades. Act 407 certification as an HVAC Inspector / Plan Reviewer is required. INSPECTOR - HVAC-MECHANICAL / PLAN REVIEWER | ADDITIONAL DETAILS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TOOLS Read blueprints, maps, manuals, instructions and federal, state and local code materials. Apply percentages, fractions, ratios, rates, measurements and calculations. Communicate complex instructions, problems and procedures clearly. Use vehicles, diagrams, code books, tape measures, cameras and computers. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Moderate work; occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and push materials up to 100 pounds. Frequently walk, stand, ride in a vehicle, reach, kneel, stoop and climb. Near, far and color vision and effective hearing are required. WORK ENVIRONMENT Frequent moderate equipment noise and work at heights. Occasional dust, outdoor temperatures, moving equipment, slip, building and traffic hazards.
