LEAD WORKING ESTIMATOR

About the role

DS Fab & Machine Works Inc. in Washougal, WA is looking for a Lead Working Estimator to join our team — a hands-on role that combines cost estimating, shop floor involvement, and day-to-day oversight of employee tasks. This is a great fit for someone who understands the fabrication/machining process inside and out and wants a role that goes beyond a desk job. What You'll Do: Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotes based on blueprints, drawings, and customer specifications Review job requirements and determine materials, labor, and time needed for projects Coordinate and assign daily and weekly tasks to shop employees Monitor job progress to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met Step in and operate shop machinery (welding, fabrication, or machining equipment) as needed to support production Communicate with customers, vendors, and team members to keep projects on track Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment What We're Looking For: 4+ years of experience in estimating within a fabrication, machining, or manufacturing environment Hands-on shop experience — welding, fabrication, and/or machining skills required Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Strong organizational and leadership skills, with experience directing or coordinating employee tasks Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable balancing both hands-on and administrative responsibilities What We Offer: Competitive pay, based on experience Health benefits with HSA option Paid Time Off (PTO) 401(k) with up to 6% employer match 9 paid holidays Full-time schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 3 - 5 years Salary: $74,700 - $120,430 Annual Bonus/Commission: No
