This is a true job shop environment-not a repetitive production shop. You'll regularly program, set up, and machine new parts from different materials, primarily stainless steel. You'll have the autonomy to determine machining approaches, develop complex setups, create fixtures, and solve problems as they arise. The position offers $35-$42 per hour, opportunities for overtime, and a strong benefits package that includes 100% company-paid health insurance, profit sharing, and a 401(k) match. ️ What you'll be doing Interpret blueprints, job specifications, and work orders Program complex parts using Mastercam Set up and operate CNC machining centers and lathes Machine one-off and custom components to required specifications and tolerances Determine tooling, workholding, and machining approaches Design and create fixtures for complex setups Inspect completed work and verify dimensional accuracy Deburr parts and complete other secondary operations as needed Program while machines are running when workflow permits Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup challenges Work independently while contributing to the broader shop team ️ Machines, controls & software You'll work with equipment that includes: Okuma CNC machining centers Mazak CNC lathes CNC mills and lathes Mastercam CAD/CAM software Standard precision inspection equipment Shop highlights Fourth-generation, family-owned company In business since 1916 High-mix custom job shop One-off and small- to medium-volume work New parts and machining challenges regularly Complex setups and custom fixturing Highly customized, high-end machinery Opportunity to program, set up, and run your own work Overtime and bonus opportunities 100% company-paid health insurance Materials you'll work with Stainless steel Aluminum Titanium Hastelloy Tool steel Brass Graphite Engineering plastics Other hard and soft metals What we're looking for Required: At least seven years of manual or CNC machining experience At least five years of experience programming and machining complex parts Proficiency with Mastercam Ability to independently program, set up, and run CNC equipment Strong blueprint and job-specification interpretation skills Experience holding required specifications and tolerances Knowledge of tooling, workholding, and complex setups Ability to inspect your own parts Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to machine a variety of metals and plastics Self-motivated and accountable in a job shop environment Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team Willingness to multitask and assist wherever needed Preferred: Experience with Okuma machining centers Experience with Mazak CNC lathes Associate degree or related technical education Experience designing and building custom fixtures Experience machining stainless steel and other challenging materials Why you'll like working here This role gives an experienced machinist ownership of the complete process-from interpreting the print and developing the program to creating the setup, machining the part, and performing the final inspection.
