You will work with advanced Mazak 4- and 5-axis machining centers and mill-turn equipment, taking jobs from engineering drawings and CAD data through setup, programming, machining, and inspection. This is not a production operator position. Machinists are expected to think through each job, select tooling and workholding, program or edit at the machine, design fixtures, solve machining challenges, and take personal ownership of the finished component. For an experienced setup machinist who enjoys complex parts, advanced equipment, and high-mix work, Team Penske offers the chance to contribute directly to some of the most recognized racing programs in North America. ️ What you'll be doing Set up, program, prove out, and operate 4- and 5-axis CNC machines Manufacture precision components for NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA racing programs Plan machining processes from work schedules, engineering drawings, and CAD data Program new parts and modify existing programs using Mazatrol Load and edit EIA programs as required Determine workholding, toolholding, and cutting-tool requirements Assemble toolholders and set tools using a presetter Design and manufacture fixtures and custom workholding Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments Anticipate tooling and material needs and coordinate orders with your supervisor Operate manual machines, saws, and other conventional equipment when needed Maintain accurate setup sheets and manufacturing information Complete preventive maintenance and assist with equipment repairs Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Take ownership of part quality, accuracy, and on-time completion ️ Machines, controls & inspection equipment Team Penske operates a Mazak-focused CNC machine shop. Equipment includes: Mazak Variaxis i-700 Mazak Integrex i-250H-S Mazak Integrex i-200H-S 4- and 5-axis CNC machining centers CNC mill-turn equipment Mazak Smooth controls Mazatrol conversational programming Manual machining equipment and saws Tool presetters Digital and analog precision measuring instruments Shop highlights Precision components for NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA Mazak-focused CNC machine shop Advanced 4- and 5-axis machining Integrex mill-turn equipment Prototype and high-mix, low-volume work Programming and editing at the machine Fixture and workholding design Ownership from job planning through inspection Fast-paced, performance-driven environment Opportunities to expand your multi-axis machining skills What we're looking for Required: At least 1 year of CNC machining experience Experience independently setting up, proving out, and operating CNC equipment Ability to edit EIA programs and make adjustments at the machine Experience assembling, setting, and measuring CNC tooling Ability to manufacture workholding fixtures Proficiency with digital and analog precision measuring instruments Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications Working knowledge of GD&T Knowledge of CNC cutting tools, toolholding, and workholding Strong shop math and basic computer skills Ability to produce accurate parts with a high-quality finish Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed Dependable, professional, and accountable approach to work Preferred: Experience operating 4- or 5-axis CNC machines Mazak CNC machine experience Mazatrol programming experience Experience with Mazak Variaxis or Integrex equipment Mill-turn machining experience Prototype or high-mix, low-volume machining experience Fixture design and manufacturing experience Completion of a high school or post-secondary machining program Machining diploma, certificate, or technical degree Why you'll like working here This role provides the opportunity to machine complex, precision components that directly support Team Penske's professional racing programs.
