This is a senior-level opportunity for a VTL machinist who can take ownership of large-diameter CNC turning work from setup through final inspection. You will not simply load parts and push buttons. AMMR needs someone who can read the print, develop a reliable setup, indicate large workpieces, prove out the program and produce a first article that meets requirements. The work includes large, complex components manufactured from challenging materials such as titanium, Inconel, Waspaloy and Hastelloy. You will work with Fanuc-controlled VTLs, Mastercam-posted programs and a team that understands the skill required to hold close tolerances on large-swing work. If you specialize in vertical turning and know how to make a difficult setup run correctly, this is an opportunity to put that experience to work on serious precision-machining projects. ️ What you'll be doing Set up and operate Fanuc-controlled CNC vertical turret lathes Machine large-diameter components from initial setup through final part Work directly from engineering drawings and models Interpret GD&T, datum structures, profile tolerances and position callouts Build and modify setups using chuck jaws, soft jaws, shim seats and custom fixturing Indicate and securely locate large workpieces Edit and prove out CNC programs at the machine control Work with programmers on Mastercam-posted code Select tooling and adjust speeds, feeds and offsets as needed Hold tolerances into the tenths on large-swing components Perform first-article and in-process inspections Troubleshoot machining, tooling, workholding and dimensional issues Complete inspection and traceability documentation to AS9100 standards ️ Machines, controls & software Machines: Large-format CNC vertical turret lathes and single-turret vertical lathes Controls: Fanuc CAM software: Mastercam-posted programs Inspection equipment: Micrometers, bore gages, height gages and indicators Processes: Large-diameter CNC turning, custom workholding, program prove-out and precision inspection Shop highlights AS9100D-certified quality system ITAR-registered manufacturing operation Large-format CNC turning capabilities Parts ranging up to 100 inches in outside diameter Aerospace and defense machining Private-space and satellite work Power-generation components Prototype through production manufacturing Challenging close-tolerance components Established precision machine shop operating since 2007 Materials you'll work with Titanium Inconel Waspaloy Hastelloy Stainless steel Aluminum What we're looking for Required: At least five years of CNC machining experience Strong hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC VTLs Ability to independently take a large-diameter part from setup through final inspection Experience with Fanuc CNC controls Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T Experience indicating and aligning large workpieces Strong knowledge of tooling, offsets, workholding and machining fundamentals Ability to edit and prove out programs at the control Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment Ability to hold close tolerances on large-swing work Working proficiency in English Ability to maintain accurate inspection and production documentation Preferred: Experience machining titanium, Inconel, Waspaloy or Hastelloy Experience working with Mastercam-generated programs Aerospace, defense or other AS9100 manufacturing experience Experience developing or modifying custom fixtures, chuck jaws and soft jaws Strong first-article inspection and troubleshooting skills Why you'll like working here You will own challenging VTL work from setup through final part The work requires genuine machining skill and problem-solving You will machine large, complex components-not repetitive operator-only work You will work with experienced programmers and manufacturing professionals Your setup, workholding and process knowledge will directly affect results The company serves stable, demanding industries You will have the opportunity to work with difficult materials and close tolerances Skilled machinists are trusted to inspect and verify their own work Pay & employment details Pay: $30-$40 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill Employment: Full-time, on-site Location: Pomona, California This position involves ITAR-controlled work.
