For an experienced mill setup machinist who enjoys developing people, troubleshooting difficult production issues and making a measurable impact, this is a chance to combine hands-on machining with shop-floor leadership. ️ What you'll be doing Lead the weekend-shift team of machine operators and setup machinists. Set up CNC milling equipment and troubleshoot production issues. Allocate work, review team performance and help develop employees. Support the transition of new parts from process engineering to production. Work with quality, engineering, planning and production management to meet schedules. Inspect setup parts manually and validate quality without relying on a CMM. Track production metrics such as setup time, cycle time and scrap rate. Help drive continuous improvement in the vertical milling department. ️ Machines, controls & software Machines: Mori Seiki, Nakamura and Hitachi Seiki CNC mills Controls: Fanuc Programming: Programming is not required for this role Inspection: Manual inspection methods used to validate setup parts Shop highlights Established precision manufacturer with more than 38 years in business 42,000-square-foot Morgan Hill facility More than 40 CNC machines, including 4- and 5-axis equipment Work serving medical device, aerospace, instrumentation and automotive customers Three-day weekend schedule Three hours of overtime potential per shift High-visibility production leadership position Close collaboration with quality and process engineering Opportunity to lead continuous-improvement work What we're looking for Required High school diploma, GED or equivalent 5-10 years of CNC milling setup experience Experience with Mori Seiki, Nakamura, Hitachi Seiki or similar Fanuc-controlled equipment Ability to read and understand blueprints, including GD&T Experience leading operators, setup machinists or other skilled manufacturing employees Strong manual inspection skills Clear verbal and written communication Computer and math skills needed to calculate cycle time, setup time, scrap rate and other production metrics Preferred Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, machine-tool technology or a related field English and Spanish bilingual skills 10 years of milling setup experience Experience supervising a manufacturing team of up to 10 employees Experience implementing continuous-improvement projects Why you'll like working here This role combines hands-on CNC mill setup work with meaningful leadership responsibility.
