A career change rarely means starting at zero. It means translating what you already do into the language of a different industry.
Start by listing the verbs, not the job titles. Scheduling, forecasting, de-escalating, training, negotiating, documenting. Those move between industries almost untouched.
Then find the bridge role. Very few people jump directly from teaching to data engineering, but many go teaching to instructional design to learning analytics. Look for jobs that value both what you have and what you are learning.
Close the smallest possible skill gap. Identify the one or two credentials or tools that show up in every posting you want, and learn those specifically. Certificates matter less than a portfolio of two or three real projects.
Rewrite the top third of your resume for the new field, and let the older roles stay factual and short.
Expect a lateral or small step back in title, and a faster climb after. People who change fields deliberately often move quicker than people who never had to explain their value.
